Lecture-Masterclass: "Re-Imagining Syrinx" with Lance Suzuki

  • Room 36 @ UH Manoa School of Music 2411 Dole Street Honolulu, HI, 96822 United States (map)

Flutist Lance Suzuki leads an exploration of how music history and poetry can inform the performance of this repertoire standard by Debussy.

Studying Debussy and the music of his contemporaries helps to contextualize this miniature piece within the larger arc of musical progress. Studying the words related to Syrinx helps to impart greater meaning and imagery to the notes on the page.
